Dunquin, Smerwick Harbour, Feohanagh

Beginning at the Great Blasket Island Visitor Centre (a wonderful exhibit that presents local life on the mysterious islands that lay off the coast) we cross fields marveling at the views around us.  A required stop on this hike is the Louis Mulcahey Pottery Shop and Cafe for a look around at his original and creative art work and a treat.  Continuing on we come to the beach of Smerwick Harbour and follow it to town.  This is Gaelach country and a real experience is stopping into Tig Beaglaoic Pub where the Irish gentlemen sit at the bar nursing their pint and no one speaks English. Onward we go, stepping off the road onto a grassy path that leads us on an amazing Cliff Walk.  The sights are magnificent with the waves crashing against the rocks. Leaving the coastline we are now making our way through the Irish Countryside to the trailhead for Mt Brandon.
